Our Club
Our Club was founded in March 1939 and has been active ever since, including the war years when the club’s meeting place was bombed. Our support is given primarily, but not exclusively to the people of Orpington, including those whose needs are seen to be too small for the larger charities to encompass, and to those whose care is linked specifically to our own locality.
Rotary  is  an  international  organisation  and therefore being forever  mindful of service to mankind, we  give our support to many international projects and appeals.

We currently meet at the Chelsfield Lakes Golf Centre  every Wednesday evening at 7pm for a 7.30 start. Click here for a map of where to find us.  Visitors using sat-nav’s should avoid using the Golf Centre’s post code as it covers a very large area.
The obligation of membership starts with the attendance at club meetings.  It is usual for members to take a meal together where the business often includes a talk on a subject of general interest, usually by an invited speaker.
Rotarians  enjoy fellowship and the  opportunity to serve their community.   This may involve  giving time,  energy and skills  to a  project or enterprise and often involves fund-raising, although this is not the club’s primary function.
Rotarians differ widely in race, colour and creed, but work together in fellowship to break down prejudice and develop understanding.  We have links with two other Rotary clubs, one in France and one in Germany and  contact with them is maintained with regular exchange visits.

New members
We welcome new members, men and women who are in business or a profession locally, and  would like to play an active part in the club’s activities. Why not come along to one of our meetings to enjoy a meal, the fellowship, and check us out.
If  you  would  like  to  do  so  please  contact  our  Secretary  Terry by  email: secretary@orpingtonrotary.org.uk to  arrange a suitable evening. He will be delighted to hear from you.
If you would like to contact our President Carol her email address is: president@orpingtonrotary.org.uk
